Incident – Weeland Road, Knottingley (WF11)

We are currently responding to a large building fire on Weeland Road in Knottingley.

Twelve fire crews and our command unit are on scene. At this time, there are no reports of anyone involved or injured.

We kindly ask the public to avoid the area while emergency services manage the incident.

16:00 - We are currently responding to a wildfire covering approximately 100m on Marsden Moor, near Mount Road.

9 fire crews are on scene, supported by wildfire specialists, our drone team, and equipment including argocats and blowers to help bring the fire under control.

Please avoid the area if possible to allow emergency services to work safely and efficiently.

Firefighters from Featherstone, Castleford and Normanton responded to the report of smoke issuing from a two storey and basement mid terraced property.  

Crews used 2 hose reels and 4 breathing apparatus, and a high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke.  The smoke was caused by fumes from cooking material in the kitchen and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued 2 casualties from inside. Both casualties had smoke inhalation and were handed into the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service and transported to hospital.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are among those teaming up for the Brodstock Emergency Services Day.

Firefighters from Dewsbury and Spen Valley Fire Stations responded to the report of a flat fire.  The fire involved a chip pan in the kitchen of a ground floor flat causing heavy smoke damage.  Firefighters used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel to extinguish the fire and a high-pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.  Smoke detectors were fitted and alerted the occupants.
