The team at Rastrick is made up of a station commander, 22 firefighters and a station clerk. The crewing system at Rastrick provides fire cover 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Also, the station houses a powerboat and provides specialist water rescue response.
The team work closely with local agencies and community safety partnerships who offer assistance by identifying those members of the community most at risk and providing referrals, they also help by providing assistance to vulnerable members of society who reside in the area.
Their aim is to continue working with partner agencies to make Rastrick and its surrounding areas a safer place for all residents and visitors.
School talks and attendance at galas also raise the profile of the station and provide additional ways of ensuring that the fire safety message is delivered helping to make Rastrick and West Yorkshire a safer place.
Continuing alongside our community activities, we ensure our preparedness for operational incidents by extensive local and inter-agency training and improve our intelligence on the key risks and hazards we may face at an incident by a programme of visits to local business and industry.
The station boasts a fully accessible multi-purpose room, which is available for use by the community and our service partners such as Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
