Response Command Team

Operational Command:

Operations Response oversee the provision of our operational command arrangements and facilities to ensure our commanders and firefighters are able to deal with emergencies safely and effectively.

District and Station Command:

The District Command Team is structured on the West Yorkshire district boundaries of Bradford, Calerdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. Commanders are employed in numerous roles to oversee the day to day management of our fire stations and operational performance to ensure our service is delivered effectively.

Operational Equipment

The Operational Equipment Team are responsible for the operational equipment and clothing used by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service at emergency incidents. These responsibilities include:

  • co-ordination of the introduction of new equipment
  • monitoring the effectiveness of current equipment
  • ensuring all existing equipment is maintained and tested in accordance with the systems put in place by the service
  • working together with the transport department to provide suitable equipment on fire appliances
  • providing the best available clothing for firefighters.
Operations Policy Team
White

The Operational Policy Team produce, update, publish and distribute operational information to all departments. This information is released in the form of:

  • Operational Procedures
  • Standard Operational Procedures
  • Operational Policy Information documents

To produce such documents the team use information gathered from various sources such as;

  • National guidance and generic risk assessments
  • Other Fire and Rescue Services’ policies
  • Feedback from operational incidents and the Operational Learning Group
  • New legislation

As well as production of such documents the team deal with day to day operational issues from all departments and stations.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Attendance at national level on the Steering Group for Generic Risk Assessments, as well as regional co-ordination.
  • Management of awards and commendations
  • Evaluation of suggestions as part of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Staff Suggestion Scheme.
Control

Our Control Operators respond to emergency 999 calls, daily we are saving lives and protecting our community.

 

Retained Liaison
White

Retained Liaison is responsible for the development of structures, policies and plans to support On-Call (Retained Duty System) fire stations in achieving the Authority’s strategic objectives.

Also to assist in providing support to On-Call fire stations and in influencing the development of the Retained Duty System by influencing local, regional and national policy.

They also identify and implement improvements to working practices and improve efficiency through awareness of local, national and regional developments.
