We are curently in attendance at a fire at a scrapyard on Bradford Road in Otley. We recieved the call at 15.31.

This fire is approximately 40x40m in size, with a large plume of smoke.

Crews are using foam and large jets to tackle the blaze.

All residents in the local area (LS21) are being asked to keep doors and windows closed due to the smoke in the air.

External fire in garden which spread to flats.  Fire fighters used 6 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and 1 large jet to extinguish the fire, and high pressure fan used to clear the smoke.  Smoke detectors were fitted and working.

 

Fire fighters from Huddersfield and Rastrick stations attended.

18:04 End of incident. 

17:52 The aircraft has now landed safely with 135 passengers on board plus 5 crew.

The plane has been inspected and will return to stand, with WYFRS crews following along with airport f/service crews.

No injuries reported.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service and West Yorkshire Police were in attendance.

17:16 Full emergency declared for a 737 heavy with 140 persons on board.

Large goods vehicle carrying trailer of glass and recycled plastic which was 100% fully involved in fire. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reels using water relay to extinguish the fire.

4 fire engines were deployed to deal with the incident.

Appliances from Pontefract, South Kirkby, Adwick and Castleford attended.

Derelict building,  20m x 30m of which 30% was involved in fire.  Crews used 1 aerial, 6 breathing apparatus, 3 hose reels and 1 large jet to extinguish the fire.  

Meltham Moor Fire

The public are being reminded not to take barbeques onto our moorland as it’s revealed that the likely cause of a huge moorland fire was a disposable cooker.

We were called to a house fire on Leeds Road, Huddersfield, at 02:18 this morning.

Four appliances were sent from Huddersfield, Rastrick, Stanningley and Cleckheaton, and an aerial appliance from Wakefield. 

Three people, including two children, were recovered from the property and received CPR before being taken to hospital by Yorkshire Ambulance Service. West Yorkshire Police were also in attendance.

Fire Investigation is now on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Crews are in attendance at a moorland fire off Wessendenhead Road in Meltham. There are currently specialist wildfire resources in attendance along with 5 additional pumps and support appliances. 

UPDATE: 11am - this is now a 10 pump fire. Road closures are in place around the area. 

Crews in attendance are Huddersfield, Halifax, Skelmanthorpe, Slaithwaite, Mirfield, Cleckheaton, Dewsbury, Ossett and Meltham.

UPDATE 12.45 - Crews remain at the scene tackling the fire. The fire has been split into sectors as we continue to bring the situation to a close.

Fire crews have been dealing with a large amount of moorland on fire in the West Nab area of Meltham overnight.  They are using beaters and blowers to contain the fire, along with specialist wildfire equipment

Mid terrace property fire, property size approximately 10m x 10m with 100% of roof involved in fire. Crews attending used an aerial appliance, 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and 1 large jet to extinguish fire.
