Fire crews are in attendance following four large haystacks catching fire in open countryside. Five pumps were called to Hall Farm Road, in Swillington. In attendance were pumps and crews from Castleford, Hunslet, Rothwell and two from Killingbeck stations following the initial call out. This has now been reduced to three engines, as crews remain on site damping down. Crews have said there is no danger to local residents, but have advised people to close doors and windows, should they smell the smoke. There are no road closures and no danger to lives. The smoke is clearly visible due to the current wind in the area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Crews are expected to remain on site until the late evening, or possibly longer.
