One crew remain at the scene this morning.

Update 09:00 09/08/26

Four crews and two aerial appliances remain at the scene this morning. 

Meanwhile, the volume of calls into our control room, and our incident response has returned to a more usual level Thank you to everyone who followed our earlier advice.
Update 17:00

We still have four crews and one aerial ladder appliance at the scene of the fire, with advice still to avoid the area.

As you may have seen on our Facebook page we are currently operating at high capacity due to a large volume of emergency incidents.

Please only call 999 for genuine emergencies, such as:

- Fire or smoke.

- Immediate danger to life.

- Hazardous materials.

- Road traffic collisions with injuries.

 

Non-emergency calls can delay vital help for those in urgent need. We appreciate your cooperation, thank you for your support.

Update 12:00

We now have six crews and two aerials at the scene and will be continuing to attend the premises throughout the afternoon.

Please continue to avoid the area and keep doors and windows shut due to smoke.

Update 10:00

The relief was upped to seven crews and an aerial ladder who remain working at the scene. Please continue to keep doors and windows shut due to smoke.

Update 08:00

Six crews and two aerial appliances remain at the scene tackling the fire. Please continue to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed.

Firefighters are using large jets and aerial appliances to bring the fire under control.

Description:

We currently have 12 crews and supporting teams in attendance at a fire at a waste management centre on Valley Farm Road in the Stourton area of Leeds.

We're asking residents in the LS10 area to keep doors and windows shut, and avoid the area while we work.
