#TeamWYFRS Finalists | Northern Power Women Awards 2026

We’re proud to share that two #TeamWYFRS colleagues have been named as finalists in the Northern Power Women Awards 2026 - a milestone year celebrating the awards’ 10th anniversary. With a record-breaking 1,800 nominations, finalists were selected through an independent judging process, recognising women driving meaningful change across organisations and communities in the North.

Huge congratulations to:

  • Station Manager, Sophie Green – Empowerment Champion
  • Crew Manager, Georgina Ralph – Person with Purpose – Public Sector

Sophie told us: “I’m honoured to be named as a finalist. I’m proud to represent West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, but this recognition is definitely a reflection of the amazing people I work alongside every day.

My 30-plus-year journey within #TeamWYFRS has enabled me to be the person I am today. I’m positive, driven, and passionate about empowering others to be the best they can be every day - and by achieving our goals and continuing to be the best versions of ourselves, we will help to make West Yorkshire safer.

The work we do is always about supporting each other and making a difference for our communities - so to be shortlisted for this award means a great deal.”

Winners will be announced on Thursday, 12th March 2026 at Manchester Central, during the week of International Women’s Day.

Good Luck to Sophie and Georgina.
