Crews at Illingworth Fire Station will hold a charity car wash on Sunday 6 February to raise money for Ash Green School Community Fund.

Money raised will be matched by Halifax Bank and Barclays Bank, which are both supporting the fundraiser.

Ash Green Primary School on Clough Lane in Mixenden, Halifax was damaged in a fire earlier this week.

Illingworth White Watch were first on the scene to tackle the blaze followed by nine further crews and six specialist teams from around West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Laura Boocock, Calderdale District Commander at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We want to support the school and the whole community and have been working closely with other agencies and organisations around the area since the fire on Tuesday evening. We are hoping for a great turn out at our car wash on Sunday and thank all those who are helping to make the event happen.”

Online donations to the fund have already surpassed £7,000.
