Final preparations underway for celebrations at Halifax Piece Hall

Crews to take part in Emergency Services Day

Jubilee

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is making final preparations for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend celebrations to be held at Halifax Piece Hall, where crews will take part in an Emergency Services Day.

Firefighters from Rastrick, Halifax, Todmorden and Bradford will be showcasing a fire engine, boat, and wildfire vehicle, while Fire Prevention staff will be on hand to share safety advice.

There will also be other emergency vehicles on show, including a vintage fire truck and some American police cars.

Laura Boocock, Calderdale District Officer said “I’m thrilled that our crews can be part of the fantastic events at the Piece Hall as part of the Jubilee celebrations. We’re really looking forward to chatting with the public about the work we do, and we’ll be happy to show attendees old or young around our fire engine and firefighting equipment.

“The icing on the cake is the chance to do this alongside our fellow blue light services – we work with them on a regular basis day-to-day so it will be great to celebrate with them too.

“Please come down and see us – Calderdale is an amazing place to live and we’re going to show the rest of the country just how well we throw a party!”

The event will include a Fire Fighters Charity marquee where people can buy fire service toys and other items. The Fire Fighters Charity supports the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's firefighting family.

The Emergency Services Day will run from 11:00 until 15:00 on Friday 3 June 2022 as part of the free four-day event to be held at the venue over the bank holiday weekend in commemoration of Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
