A small precept rise is going to be put to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority for consideration.

The Authority lost £26.1million in central government grants from 2010/11 to 2018/19, but now the Secretary of State has allowed the eight lowest precepting authorities (of which West Yorkshire is one) to increase their precept flexibility.

The proposal will see a rise of 6p per week (on the 2021/22 charge) for Band A taxpayers, and 10p per week to a Band D taxpayer (on 2021/22 charge).

The increase will be considered by the authority on February 24th 2022.
