Ten crews remain at the scene tackling the fire. Please continue to avoid the moorland. There is a large plume of smoke due to the fire so we are now also asking residents in the surrounding areas, particularly Marsden to keep their doors and windows closed.
Description:
We were called at 14.29 to reports of a moorland fire on New Hey Road in Scammonden.
We currently have ten crews in attendance including appliances from Greater Manchester FRS.
The public are being asked to avoid the area, specifically the Pennine Way near Hey Reservoir and Hay Gutter March.
