New Hey Road Moorland Fire

Crews are in the process of handing the site over to the National Trust. We'd like to thanks our partners and the public for their support as we tackled this incident.

Five crews are at the scene this morning doing a sweep of the perimeter of the fire and extinguishing hotspots that remain. Please continue to avoid the area.

Firefighters will remain at the scene this evening and assess the picture overnight. Further updates will follow in the morning. Please continue to avoid the area.

Ten crews remain at the scene tackling the fire. Please continue to avoid the moorland. There is a large plume of smoke due to the fire so we are now also asking residents in the surrounding areas, particularly Marsden to keep their doors and windows closed.
