Incident update | 16:01

The incident affecting the Deer Hill and Five Mile Post areas is now resolved. Both locations are under control and there is no active fire fighting activity.
A final inspection will be carried out in the morning to confirm conditions remain stable.

Incident Update (08/04/26) 11.30

The fire on Marsden Moor continues to burn with four crews and four wildfire units in attendance. They are using specialist moorland equipment such as argocats to tackle the blaze.

Crews have walked round the perimeter and estimate the fire to be around 4km squared.

We'd like to thank the public for their cooperation in avoiding the area, our partner agencies for supporting our efforts, and our control room, who have taken 71 999 calls around this incident.

Please continue to avoid the area. Further updates will follow.

Incident update (08/04/2026) | 08:44

The wildfire burned throughout the night and remains active this morning. Resources have been scaled back and the incident is now being managed by 5 crews.

Members of the public are asked to continue avoiding the area while operations remain ongoing.

Inicdent Update 08/04/26 8am

We still have two crews and four supporting wildfire units at the scene of the fire.

This is still actively burning and firefighters are expected to continue their work throughout today.

Please continue to avoid the area.

Incident update | 17:32

Crews from across West Yorkshire remain at both wildfire scenes, using blowers to dampen down and extinguish the moorland fires.
 

Incident Update | 16:39

10 crews remain at both scenes on Marsden Moor, covering Deer Hill and the Five Mile Post areas, supported by specialist wildfire teams.

Members of the public should continue to avoid the area and expect road closures in the surrounding area while crews work to bring both wildfires under control.

Incident Update | 13:30

We are currently attending two moorland fires at Deer Hill and the Five Mile Post area.

We are asking all members of the public to stay away from Marsden Moors. Anyone currently on the moors is advised to leave the area as soon as possible.

Road closures are expected in surrounding areas while fire crews from across West Yorkshire respond to this wildfire.
