Description:
Two fire engines initially responded to an automatic fire alarm activation at a highrise building. On arrival crews discovered smoke logging on the 13th floor, a further 4 fire engines and 2 aerial appliances were mobilised, and the floor was evacuated. The fire was confirmed to involve a chip pan and was extinguished by the internal sprinkler system. Firefighters used a high pressure fan to remove smoke. A salvage unit from Mirfield Fire Station also attended to assist with clearing up following the sprinkler activation. One casualty with smoke inhalation was handed into the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
