Domestic Property Fire - Southowram, Halifax

Call from the occupier reporting her lounge and cellar full of smoke.  Confirmed that she had been alerted to the smoke by her carbon monoxide detector. 1 female occupant and 2 children safely left the property until arrival of the Fire Service.

On arrival crews found the building smoke logged on the ground floor and basement.  The incident proved to be a chimney fire which had spread to the cavity.  Cutting away carried out and crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.  Red Cross Fire Emergency Support Service was requested and attended.
