Rawdon Fire Station was built in 1974 and serves an area of approximately sixteen square miles including the areas of Rawdon, Yeadon, Guiseley, Hawksworth, Menston and parts of Apperley Bridge. There is a population of 34,464 and the area incorporates 14,416 dwellings. The station is situated on Green Lane and accommodates one firefighting appliance. The team is made up of a station commander (who also manages Cookridge and Otley) and 24 operational firefighters providing 24 hour cover 365 days a year. The firefighters are trained in specialist high level technical rope rescue, a resource that is used at incidents across the whole of West Yorkshire, in addition to providing operational fire cover.
