Moortown Fire Station, built in 1956, is situated at the Harrogate Road end of Stonegate Road. It houses two operational wholetime fire appliances. The station is staffed by a station commander (who also manages Wetherby) and 48 operational firefighters who provide 24 hour cover, 365 days a year. The station area covers a widely diverse population stretching from the Chapeltown area up to the Harewood region in the north of the station boundary. The area incorporates 37,257 dwellings and has a population of 88,427. The station borders with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
