Gipton Fire Station, built in 1937, is situated on Gipton Approach, off the A64 on the east side of Leeds. The station has two appliances and is staffed 24 hours a day. The team is made up of a station commander and 47 firefighters covering four watches. The station area covers Gipton, Harehills, Halton, Seacroft, Osmonthorpe and Burmantofts which has a population of 75,316 and incorporates 32,301 dwellings. The station is home to the Young Firefighters Scheme where pupils attend from the east Leeds area. The station is also home to the Leeds Arson Task Force who contribute to reducing the risk of fire in the community and reduce the number of deliberate fires.
