Amendments to 1992 and 2006 Firefighter Pension schemes

You may have seen information in relation to the amendments to the 1992 and 2006 Firefighter Pension Schemes which impact on abatement, deferred pensions and APBs.

We are aware of this issue and will provide more information and guidance in due course.


Pegasus Fire Protection

Pegasus are looking for a retired firefighter who can work part, or occasionally full time depending on the workload, and who can service Dry Risers, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrants. Very occasionally night work is required.

Full training can be provided. The candidate must live reasonably close to Beeston, Leeds. The hourly rate of pay is £8.85 plus holiday pay. Physical fitmness and a full driving licence are requirements of the post.

Terence Granville Bradley

Terence passed away on 30th July aged 87. He served from April 1958 retiring in April 1982, as Leading Firefighter

John Mullen

Former SDO John Mullen had passed away aged 94 years. Mr Mullen joined the Fire Service in 1946 and retired in 1980. The funeral will be held on Thursday 14th August at 14.55 at the Sacred Heart Church, Crow Nest, Bingley to be followed by cremation at Nab Wood Crematorium

Ronald Hayhurst

Former SDO Ronald Hayhurst has passed away aged 92 years. Mr Hayhurst joined the Service in June 1946 and retired in July 1981 having served at Sowerby Bridge, Cleckheaton, Keighley and FSHQ

Terence Henry

Former Firefighter 240 Terence Henry passed away on 12th July aged 88. Mr Henry joined Leeds City Fire Brigade in 1950, serving at Bramley; he left in 1964.

The funeral will be held at Rawdon Crematorium on Monday 21st July 2014 at 3pm
