Amendments to 1992 and 2006 Firefighter Pension schemes

You may have seen information in relation to the amendments to the 1992 and 2006 Firefighter Pension Schemes which impact on abatement, deferred pensions and APBs.

We are aware of this issue and will provide more information and guidance in due course.

Pegasus Fire Protection

Pegasus are looking for a retired firefighter who can work part, or occasionally full time depending on the workload, and who can service Dry Risers, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hydrants. Very occasionally night work is required.

Full training can be provided. The candidate must live reasonably close to Beeston, Leeds. The hourly rate of pay is £8.85 plus holiday pay. Physical fitness and a full driving licence are requirements of the post.

Kenneth Roebuck

Kenneth Roebuck passed away on 9th September 2014. Mr Roebuck was born in 1925 and joined the service in August 1952 as a retained firefighter at Holmfirth. He joined the full time service in 1954 and, apart from a short time at Slaithwaite, served at Holmfirth. He retired in July 1980.

There is to be a service of remembrance on Saturday 20th September 2014 at 10am at St John the Evangelist Church, Upperthong Lane, Upperthong, Holmfirth. HD9 3BQ.


Raymond Brian Whipp

Raymond Brian Whipp passed away on 6th September 2014 aged 70. Raymond served as a Firefighter from April 1975 and retired in July 1999 whilst at Shipley. Raymond was resident in Almeria at the time of his death.

Andy Blackburn & Nigel Turner

Andy and Nigel are retiring and invite colleagues past and present to join them in their celebration on Tuesday 23rd September 2014 at Rat and Ratchett, Chapel Hill, Huddersfield from 7pm onwards.


Dave Boucher

Dave is retiring and invites colleagues past and present to join him for a drink and a bite to eat on Thursday 2nd October at The Magnet, 72 Pontefract Road, Castleford. WF10 4BG, 7.30 until late. Partners welcome.


John Carradice

John is retiring and invites colleagues past and present to join him for a farewell drink at Cue Gardens, Odsal, Bradford BD6 1BJ on Saturday 11th October at 7pm onwards
