West Yorkshire’s emergency services are gearing up for a show to remember!
The Emergency Services Show will take place at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service HQ in Bradford Road, Birkenshaw, on Saturday, 7 July.
The blue light services will be showcasing their best equipment and skills. They will be joined by local authorities, charities, community groups and companies selling their services and wares.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service will have a variety of fire engines and specialist equipment on show and, along with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, will be putting on a demonstration of a rescue from height. Firefighters will carry out an extrication from a smashed-up vehicle and search and rescue dogs will also wow the crowds.
West Yorkshire Police will be giving out crime and safety advice. The mounted division and police dogs will be at the show to put on an impressive display of their skills and agility.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team, who are trained to deliver clinical care at hazardous incidents, will be exhibiting their life-saving equipment and vehicles. The service’s mascot, ‘Para-ted’ will meet younger visitors and show them around the education ambulance.
All five local authorities from West Yorkshire will be at the show, along with the Environment Agency (EA), Health Protection Agency and other NHS organisations. The theme will be ‘how to prepare for emergencies’. A free prize draw will be held, with a month’s free gym membership up for grabs.
Freddy the Fire Engine will be joined by Diddy Dennis – both of which promise to be star attractions for youngsters.
Providing entertainment will be the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band, Wakefield Majorettes, Sesku Academy, Attitude Academy and PJ’s Gym.
All proceeds will go to the British Red Cross, Fire Fighters Charity and a range of other smaller charities. Entry is £1 per person and it is free for under 10s. Gates open at 12 noon.
