West Yorkshire is to host a national conference on fireground incident command later this month on behalf of the Fire Service College.
West Yorkshire’s chief fire officer, Phil Toase, will welcome some 80 delegates to the event, which will be held at the county’s fire HQ in Birkenshaw on 30 October.
Incident Command will focus on the skills demanded of tomorrow’s strategic managers and is being run by the college’s Centre for Leadership.
One of the principal speakers will be West Yorkshire’s former deputy chief, Kevin Arbuthnot, who is now the college’s Head of Command and Control.
Mr. Arbuthnot is a principal architect of the modern approach to incident command.
During the day, delegates will be able to tour West Yorkshire new Hydra/Minerva command suite which uses pioneering software to test critical command skills.
