Resolved


That the Minutes of the meeting held on 5 February 2008 be signed by the Chair as a correct record.

36  Declarations of Interest


No disclosures of interest were declared in any matter under consideration at the meeting.


37  Fireguard Project – Additional Expenditure


Consideration was given to a report of the Director of Operations which sought approval for additional expenditure in support of the Fireguard project which had identified a shortfall in the overall project costs.


Members were advised that the original expenditure in support of the project had been made in accordance with the Authority’s Standing Orders under the Chief Fire Officer’s delegated powers. It was reported that any additional expenditure would exceed the delegated limit and now required formal

Committee approval.


The project (Operation Fireguard) provided participating Fire and Rescue Authorities with contractual arrangements with an external service provider for contingency cover in the event of a major personnel absence. The shortfall in funding equated to £17,176 – West Yorkshire’s contribution being £6,576.


Resolved


That approval be given to a contribution of £6,576

to assist in the funding shortfall for Operation 

Fireguard.


38  Appointment of Assistant Chief Fire Officer (Director of Human Resources)


(Exempt information under Section 12A(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 – Information relating to the individual)


The Committee interviewed five shortlisted applicants for the position of Brigade Manager / Assistant Chief Officer.


Resolved


That Mr Martyn Redfearn be appointed to the post of Brigade Manager / Assistant Chief Fire Officer (Director of Human Resources) with effect from midnight on 30 March 2008.
