The Property Management Unit is responsible for the management of strategic and day-to-day processes for the replacement, refurbishment, alteration, repair and maintenance of all property owned by the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Authority.
The department procures and manages work contracts and processes to ensure the cost effective and efficient operation and utilisation of all properties in support of all Fire Authority activities. The department therefore aims to ensure each property is functional, safe, weather tight and safe for its intended use.
The responsibilities are wide reaching and include the roof, walls, windows, personnel and appliance bay doors, external grounds and internal fittings and fixtures as well as various building services and facilities for heating, electrical, fire detection, and security. The department also deals with the sale of surplus land and buildings.
During 2006, two large development projects will progress on site for a new Community Fire Station in Leeds Road Bradford and a New Office and Training Building at the Fire Service Headquarters, Birkenshaw.
