Arson Reduction

Deliberate ignition is the largest single cause of fire in the county. To deal with these fires, takes valuable resources away from more productive fire safety risk reduction work, they disrupts training programmes and render fire appliances unavailable for real live saving emergencies.

Addressing the problem of arson and deliberate fire setting is a priority of the Fire & Rescue Service. A problem that needs to be tackled in partnership with the Police and other Local Authority partners on three fronts:

Where possible the Fire & Rescue Service will set up joint arson task forces with partners through Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships and Local Area Agreements.
