In November 1996, West Yorkshire's fire appliances became the first in this country to attract sponsorship and attracted widespread publicity in doing so.

It was not intended that our fire appliances carry traditional advertisements, such as those displayed on the sides of buses, but rather that they carry panels in a prominent position on either side of the vehicle depicting the sponsor's logo or company name, together with a simple message. The panels would be approximately A3 in size.

Why Sponsor A Fire Appliance?

Experience has already shown that many companies wish to be associated with a high profile and highly respected emergency service and be seen to promote public safety. For its part the Authority is certainly eager to establish ever-closer links between its fire stations and their local communities.

Sponsorship of a fire appliance gets organisations noticed by the public. The very nature of their work and the attention grabbing passage of an appliance on the roads will assure awareness. In addition, appliances often appear in newspapers and on television broadcasts associated with dramatic events.

How Much Does It Cost?

Sponsorship of our appliances attracts an annual charge, based on a banded price structure applied to each vehicle.

A brief summary of this structure is as follows:

Band A - City Centres - £1000

Band B - Urban Areas - £750

Band C - Small Towns - £500

It follows that the annual sponsorship of an appliance based in a city, such as Leeds, would cost £1000 plus VAT.

An additional charge is also made for any artwork or production of sponsorship panel and once again this is subject to VAT.
