9 August 2007

Odsal Fire Station is holding an open day on Saturday, August 18 from 1pm to 4pm.

There will be a number of attractions for all the family, including stalls, a bouncy castle, coconut shy and raffle.

Firefighters at the Huddersfield Road station in Bradford will also be washing cars and running a café, serving tea, coffee, cold drinks, ice cream and hot dogs.
All money raised on the day will go to the Fire Services’ National Benevolent Fund and the Trudy Ramsden Memorial Trophy.

The brigade’s chip pan display unit will be at the station to show visitors the dangers of using a chip pan in spectacular detail, with firefighters there to give home fire safety advice.

Odsal firefighters have carried out 960 free home fire safety checks so far this year and fitted more than 2,000 smoke detectors. To book a home fire safety check call 0800 587 4536 or visit www.westyorksfire.gov.uk
