Halifax Fire Station hopes to celebrate its 1,000th home fire safety check so far this year by holding an open day.
The King Cross station, in Skircoat Moor Road, will throw open its doors on Saturday, September 8 between 11am and 4pm.
The station, which carried out more than 1,000 free home fire safety checks in Halifax between January and August this year and fitted more than 1,660 smoke detectors, hopes to combine fun with fire safety at the event.
Members of the public are urged to visit the station to watch a spectacular road traffic collision display and a firefighting display. Staff and firefighters will also be giving out fire safety advice.
There will be plenty of rides and many games, with a chance for members of the public to engage with the firefighters and receive home Safety advice.
Station Manager Mick Smith said: “We are expecting bumper crowds to visit and hope to raise lots of money for charity.
“We would love the public to come along as it is an excellent opportunity to see what happens at a fire station and to register for a free home fire safety check. There may even be an opportunity to see me getting wet through on a ducking stool.”
