The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Summer Gala was a resounding success, raising more than £8,000 for charity.
Around 5,000 people flocked to the event at WYFRS headquarters in Bradford Road, Birkenshaw, on Saturday, July 14.
There were more than 120 attractions, including the grand unveiling of the brigade’s new miniature fire engine by West Yorkshire Chief Fire Officer Phil Toase and Chairman of the Authority, Philip Booth.
BBC Look North presenter Ian White opened the gala.
Visitors also watched in awe as a Hillier 12-E4 helicopter, as seen in James Bond movie Goldfinger, put in an appearance, as well as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Gala organiser Brian Hughes said: “A great time was had by all. We were the luckiest people in the world because we had beautiful weather. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for being brave and coming, in light of the recent downpours.

“I would also like to thank everyone who helped organise the event and the many volunteers who gave up their time and helped us raise this record-breaking amount for charity.”
Brian Robson, area manager for Community Fire Safety, said: “The day was a great success. The sun came out just at the right time and meant that the day could be enjoyed by all who attended'.”
Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Fire Services’ National Benevolent Fund will share £5,000 of the money raised, with £3,500 going to a selection of local charities.
