Over 200 sets of firefighting kit used in flood relief work over the last two days are to be shipped off for professional cleaning.
In the 15 hours to midnight on Monday, West Yorkshire fire crews responded to around 1,000 calls to flooding, 20 incidents involving rescues.
Two elderly people were rescued by firefighters using a water sled in Meanwood; two adults and four children were plucked from a minibus in Gomersal and several streets had to be evacuated in the Agbrigg area of Wakefield.
The contaminated workwear will be on view prior to shipment in the Stores Department, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service HQ, Bradford Road, Birkenshaw at 3pm tomorrow (Thursday, 28 July). PHOTOGRAPHERS/REPORTERS WELCOME.
