WEBER-HYDRAULIK VARIO SPS 330A COMBITOOL
The tool is designed as a universal combitool for the rescue of casualties at road traffic accidents trapped in or by vehicles. It is used to cut door and roof pillars, door posts and sills, the steering wheel and spokes. The blades are provided with a special cutter for round bar at the pivot end.
The tool can also be used for spreading, pushing and pulling operations, to open doors, to push back seats, to lift vehicles, to push and move parts of vehicles and loads in vertical and horizontal directions.
When used for RTA work refer to Operational Procedure No. 7 for guidance on the application of hydraulic rescue tools to this work.
The tool can also be used for industrial purposes, eg. to cut pipes, structural steel, sectional steel, sheet metal and cables. This ability can be used on security fences and gates, particularly in high rise buildings.
This equipment is an electro-hydraulic combination cutter/spreader rescue tool and comprises three units:-
the combitool and supply lead
the battery pack
the charging set for the battery pack
Combitool
The Combitool is a conventional hydraulic combined cutting and spreading tool other than the pump and its electrical motor is integrated into the tool and the only power connection is an electrical conductor from the battery pack, permanently attached to the tool. The connector plug is fitted with a key to ensure correct polarity is maintained and locking lugs to prevent unintentional disconnection.
Two handles are provided, a fixed one incorporated at the power unit end and a swivelling one at the base of the fork for the jaws. A knurled knob is tightened to lock this handle in the desired position or if preferred it may be backed off by about one turn so that the tool can turn within the handle to align itself with the work.
Movement of the jaws is controlled by a rocker switch at the forward end of the fixed handle.
The blades have internal and external ribs at the tip to minimise slipping when spreading and pinching.
The portion of the blade used for cutting is serrated so that it tends to bite and hold material being cut. Close to the pivot end of the blade is a notch which is designed for cutting round bar and should be used when cutting this section of material.
