ANIMAL RESCUE EQUIPMENT -
TAGG COW LIFTING HARNESS
This is a two-part webbing harness designed specifically for lifting cows from awkward situations. It also suitable for the handling of horses and other similar large animals to a maximum weight of 1 tonne. An essential feature of this harness is that it can be utilised without having to be passed directly under the animal. This makes it more easily fitted in rescue situations in ditches, soft ground, etc. The harness is not intended for supporting an animal for prolonged periods. It is primarily for rescue or transfer movements.
COX SURGICAL DOWNACOW HARNESS
This harness, issued in two versions with detail differences, is designed specifically for supporting adult cows up to a maximum weight of either 750 kg or 1000 kg, in the standing position. The appropriate Safe Working Load for the individual harness is permanently marked on it. It may also be used on other large animals. It affords generous support area and is therefore suitable for prolonged use without distressing the animal. The manufacturer recommends a maximum of two hours fully supporting the animal. After this period the animal should be rested on the ground for the same length of time. Its size and method of fitting to the animal mean that it can be awkward to fit for rescues from confined situations or boggy ground and that it may not be possible to exactly follow the instructions below. At no stage of fitting should any part of the harness be allowed to be twisted.
