NIGHTSEARCHER 2000 MAXI PORTABLE FLOODLIGHT
The Nightsearcher comprises 4 units: -
1. The lamp head
2. The extension pole
3. The battery pack
4. The charger unit and cable.
Lamp head
To be light and robust the head is extensively made from plastics. For use the lamp head can be mounted either on the battery pack directly or on to the extension pole. Light output from the fluorescent tube is approximately equivalent to a 300-watt light. The head is connected to the power pack by a coiled extendable lead and is turned on and off by a switch mounted at the rear of the lamp head. Two small handwheels are fitted to the mounting bracket and these should be adjusted so that the lamp head swivels to the desired position but is locked in that position by the detents, so making the position quickly adjustable.
Extension pole
The telescopic pole locates in the bracket mounted on top of the battery pack and can be locked and used at any height between its upper and lower limits. The lamp head is retained in the socket by turning the handwheel clockwise. To release the pole to adjust it, the black sleeve should be rotated to the right, the pole housed or extended as require, then the sleeve is turned to the left to re-secure the pole in its new position.
Battery pack
The battery pack is contained in a plastic case, fitted with a carrying handle, input/output power socket and a lamp head/extension-pole mounting bracket. There are no user-serviceable parts within the case and no attempt should be made to open it. The battery is a sealed lead-acid 12-volt unit and must be re-charged using only the unit supplied for that purpose.
Charger unit & cable
This is mains powered and is suitable only for indoor use within dry areas. It must be used only for re-charging the Nightsearch lamp battery pack. Five light emitting diodes are mounted on the unit to indicate charging and power status. A uni-directional plug on the twin cable connects to the socket on the charger marked “Output charging lead”; a co-axial plug at the other end of the cable fits the battery pack socket marked “Light output & charging socket”.
