Station Clerk/Typist

Slaithwaite Station, 23 hrs/week

£15153 - £15842 pro rata (pay award pending)

As a key member of Slaithwaite Fire Station you will be responsible for general clerical and admin duties, including typing, sorting and distributing mail and dealing with any personnel related information.

Candidates must be proficient typists, have knowledge of Word Processing systems, Excel spreadsheets and good keyboard skills. The successful candidate will be literate and numerate, able to work flexibly and on their own initiative. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are a pre-requisite.

Management Accountant

Fire Service Headquarters, Birkenshaw

£30,598 - £34,991 per annum (pay award pending)

The principle remit of this role will be to develop and maintain financial information and reporting systems to support the Fire Authority’s delegated budget systems; and to support the Finance Manager in the preparation of the revenue budget and closure of accounts.

The successful candidate will design, develop and maintain financial information systems which will provide managers with effective information.

You will be a qualified CCAB accountant with extensive knowledge of financial procedures in a large public sector organisation; experience of preparation of detailed financial reports; experience of budget monitoring; and experience of closure of accounts.

Network Assistant

Fire Service Headquarters, Birkenshaw

£21,412 to £22,845 (pay award pending)

As a key member of the team you will provide technical support to the Fire & Rescue Service’s Local and Wide Area Networks including the management of hubs, switches, routers, firewalls and servers. The principal duties of the role include facilitating the installation, configuration and maintenance of the network infrastructure.

Applicants will have experience in a network support role within a large organisation and possess excellent working knowledge of IP addressing and TCP/IP networking. You will preferably be educated to HND/HNC level in a computer related subject (or possess equivalent experience) and must hold a Microsoft Networking qualification.

Retained Firefighters - Various Fire Stations

We are recruiting retained firefighters at various Fire stations

What Is Your Commitment?

You have to be able to attend at the station, within five minutes, from your home and / or your place of work [which should both normally be within one mile of the station].
Shift workers or people who are able to improve day time cover would be preferred as we provide cover 24 hrs per day.
You must be able to attend weekly drill / training periods.

If you want to join a service that is an essential and respected part of the community and be able to play your part in saving life and property and you feel you have the qualities to carry out this demanding but rewarding role you must:-

be able to respond to the station within 5 minutes of a call (on foot if necessary)
be at least 18 years of age, of good character and have a sense of responsibility
have good eyesight in each eye without any aids to vision
be physically fit and pass a medical examination at our Occupational Health Unit.
