Fire service gala ready for lift-off
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s summer gala has a spectacular line-up of attractions this year.
The annual event, to take place on Saturday, July 12 at the brigade’s headquarters in Bradford Road, Birkenshaw, will play host to more than 130 groups and organisations, including all emergency and many military services.
While the fire and rescue service will showcase its search and rescue skills with specialist equipment, West Yorkshire Police will hover above beaming down pictures to the Command Unit on site. And the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the breathtaking James Bond Hiller helicopter will wow the crowds when they land and take off from the gala field. The Army will be throwing open the challenge to visitors to tackle an assault course and daring everyone to have a go at the Royal Marines Simulator, both of which are a welcome first for the event.
